Sheila Delimont

She was raised in the San Francisco Bay Area. Art and the outdoors have always been her passions. Prior to establishing herself as an artist, Sheila had a distinguished carerer as a city and county planner. Her concern for the environment was heightened by her work on open space, resource conservation, and public access issues.

Sheila has studied art at Monterey Peninsula College and taken workshops through the Monterey Museum of Art and other organizations. Her love and respect for nature are now being translated into her paintings and prints.

Sheila creates her art at a studio on Cannery Row and works in several mediums. She paints with pastels, watercolors and acrylics, and makes monotype and woodblock prints. Her landscape paintings have been exhibited at the Pacific Grove Art Center, Galeria Tonantzin in San Juan Bautista, and the Venture Gallery in Monterey. Her art is part of collections ranging from Australia to Chicago and the East Coast.

California is a land of contrasts—a realm we often tend to overlook in the fast pace of our lives. At times its landscape is meditative and soothing, at times foreboding. My paintings explore this duality as well as the immensity and beauty of this world. A haven that can nurture us and provide solace, it also needs to be cherished. Through my art I seek to share my sense of awe for this landscape that is my home.
