Myra Knapp

She was born in Texas, grew up in northern California and then returned to Texas as a young bride. Painting has always played an important role in her life as she was part of a very active artistic environment -- both mother and mother-in-law remain as well-known watercolorists in California and Arizona -- so painting is something that took root early.

Art study at the university level combined with study with America’s leading impressionist painters Charles Movalli, Ted Goerschner, Ron Rencher, Scott Christensen, Randall Sexton

and a two-year art study while living and painting in Europe, all served to make Knapp’s oil paintings reflect the richness and love of the land. California’s golden hills, wide open ranchlands, the ruggedness of coastal cliffs and surf, and the delicate twisted patterns of wind-swept coastal trees all provide inspiration for her next paintings.
