Richard Tette

Richard is a San Francisco Bay area native. He received his art education at the California College of Arts and Crafts in Oakland, majoring in advertising and illustration. His early career was as an illustrator in the aerospace industry. During this time he also began painting and exhibiting his work both in regional and national competitions. He showed his work locally at Zantman Gallery in Carmel, CA and for a time had his own gallery in Su Vecino Court in Carmel. In May of 1972 he was one of the prize-winning finalist selected by the American Federation of Arts for the Benedictine Art Awards Show in New York.

The recipient of numerous awards, he has exhibited in the annual Society of Western Artists Show at the De Young Museum in San Francisco; Watercolor Artists Show in Springfield, Missouri; the California State Fair; and in many other juried shows. His work has been selected to tour several mid-western universities and galleries. Richard has worked and experimented in different mediums, and currently is working in oil. He exhibits at the Venture Gallery, adjoining the Portola Plaza Hotel in Monterey, CA.
