American artist and plein air painter, Vivian Cornwall, feels that foremost an artist should enjoy the subject she paints. The artist should see, sketch and literally breathe the air, feel the sunshine and gain a first hand feeling for the subject painted. Vivian can be found most any day with her easel and brushes painting a street scene, a coastal vineyard, a mountain stream or sidewalk café.

Painting in both oil and watercolor, her bold impressionist style and use of vivid color is in harmony with the joyous scenes she paints. Living and painting in Italy several summers, coupled with plein air painting throughout Europe, the British Isles, Canada, and U.S.A., has given Vivian's work broad appeal. She has carefully chosen to study and paint with internationally recognized artists Millard Sheets, George Post, Charles Reid, Nancy Johnson, Tom Hill, Rex Brandt Edward Norton Word, Robert Wood, Charles Movalli, Keith Lindberg, Ted Goerschner, George Carlson and Albert Handell.

Vivian is the recipient of over forty regional awards including first place in the Northern Nevada Art Association Invitational Show, Reno , Nevada ; Nevada State Fair, Reno , Nevada ; Northern Mines Art Show, Grass Valley , CA : National Pen Women Invitational show Auburn , CA ; in addition on she has received several People's Choice and Purchase Awards. Always interested in sharing her expertise in the art process, Vivian has taught many painting workshops in northern California .

Vivian is an associate member of the National Watercolor Society; the Central Coast art Association, Carmel, CA; Pioneer Arts Association, Grass Valley, CA. Her work have shown in Nicki Boheme Gallery, Mendocino, CA; Cottage Gallery, Carmel, CA; Image Gallery Carmel, CA; Gallery ll, Nevada City, CA; Impressions Gallery, Nevada City, CA. Her Paintings have been published in many privet and corporate collections worldwide, and have been published in Artists of California Vol. III. Vivian has enjoyed being a resident of Carmel , CA for seven years.
