Linda Elling
"It is paramount that we protect and preserve our world: If I can capture a moment and a feeling of a particular space and time: I have succeeded.” Born in the Midwest, Linda grew up with either a crayon or a pencil in hand. Art and music were always her passions. As an art major in college, Linda opted to chose an alternative career that she thought would provide a more stable income. That alternative was retail in which she had many roles: sales, visual merchandising, store management and buying. While that career allowed for some artist expression: it was always painting that Linda dreamed to pursue in the Southwest. Linda moved in the mid 70’s from Michigan to Santa Fe, New Mexico. The area with its history, culture beauty and surrounding environs was truly inspirational. While in Santa Fe, Linda was able to study painting with several professional New Mexico artists as well as an acclaimed California painter. During this time, she started exhibiting her own work in an art gallery, working as a sign painter to supplement her income. After twenty two years in Santa Fe, Linda moved to the Central Coast of California. The Monterey peninsula and central valley offered a stimulus equally as beautiful and inspirational as the high desert of New Mexico. Over the years, Linda has shown her work in several galleries, in several states and is in private collections through the country.
